The human body is a highly complex and dynamic system that operates according to precise mechanisms. The nervous system, which consists of the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS), plays a vital role in controlling bodily functions. The CNS, consisting of the brain and spinal cord, interprets sensory information from the body and sends signals to the PNS to execute various actions. The PNS, comprising nerves that branch off from the spinal cord, transmits these signals to muscles and glands throughout the body. Motor neurons, which make up the majority of the PNS, carry signals from the CNS to effectors such as muscles and glands, causing them to contract or relax. Sensory neurons, on the other hand, transmit sensory information from receptors in the skin, muscles, and joints back to the CNS for interpretation. In addition to motor and sensory functions, the nervous system also includes autonomic functions that regulate involuntary actions, such as heart rate, digestion, and respiration. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) consists of two subdivisions: the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and parasympathetic nervous system (PNS).
