Draconic Tribes - MagmaSeason 3 - (1/4)Become a Patron Description A good century ago, the Garorks of Western Hammerhold came under attack by neighboring Elves. Territorial disputes had boiled over at long last, and now all-out battle seemed imminent. Expecting an even fight, the Garork chieftain Mugnoth took his fighters out to the field of battle. In shock, he had to discover that he would be crossing blades with Vastari that day, not Elves. These Elves had long since allied with the Vastari empire to enact a two-prong assault on the Garorks and claim their lands for themselves. Luckily for Mugnoth, he had ordered his young son Ragnoth to stay behind at the Hold and protect against rear-guard attacks. Seeing Mugnoth’s forces encircled and cut down, Ragnoth felt a blazing fury he had never known before. He invoked an ancient song of hatred, intending to deny the Elves and Vastari their victory that day. And something listened. Flames burst from the earth, molten rock cut through grass and tree, and all of Hammerhold vanished in a geyser of lava. The only price their enemies would claim that day was scorched earth. A few survivors of that day claim they saw massive clawed hands grasping at the Hold and taking it below the earth. The something that had heard Ragnoth’s incantation was Malgatorrik, the slumbering sovereign of the earth’s primordial form.
