5th Generation Replicator Build Plate Locks
thingiverse
Having a Build Plate that doesn't move (other than down) during printing is an essential factor in achieving the best possible print quality from your 5th Generation Replicator, just like any other 3D printer. It can also overcome issues including prints failing. If you own a 5th Generation Replicator check your slide in / slide out Build Plate to see how much movement there is forward / backward within the 'home' position. Even new Replicators can have a couple of mm movement. If you can't see it, this can potentially allow the build plate to vibrate / move during printing. The Build Plate Locks are designed to lock the 5th Generation Replicator Build Plate firmly in its home position and eliminate the forward / backward movement. They are a quick and easy print, easy to install and remove... and a simple safeguard that can improve the print quality and overall performance of 5th Generation Replicators. There is no visible movement with the 5th Generation Replicator Build Plate however, as any small vibration /movement can compromise print quality these Build Plate Locks are a safeguard against vibration / movement. With them installed there should be no forward / backward movement of the Build Plate... it should be locked home. Note: If you like this check out the rest of my practical and fun designs. Printer Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.20mm / Standard Infill: 75% infill with 2 or 3 Shells Notes: Use 2 or 3 shells and high infill (75%) to make the Build Plate Locks strong enough to hold the Build Plate firmly in place. They should have a degree of spring to them so will snap into place when fitted. Post-Printing: Easy install... Refer to the images provided for installation instructions. If printed with 2 to 3 shells and high infill they should be firm to fit, with a moderate amount of spring tension, and snap into place.
