5th Gen Clearance Bar
thingiverse
I get scared because clicking sounds make me nervous. If you purchased the 5th gen model at its release, you likely recall some issues with it back then. Even though it now works flawlessly, any clicking noise sends shivers down my spine. As the extruder glides leftwards, the feed tube makes contact with the left rail's edge, which isn't a problem initially, but once it continues moving leftward, the tube often drops below the rail's bottom, creating an annoying clicking sound. To rectify this situation, this custom-designed clearance bar ensures that the feed tube slides effortlessly along the flat surface of the rail, never dipping below its edge and thus eliminating those dreaded clicks. For this modification, precise measurements are a must. However, start by conducting a test print, allowing it to reach about 5mm in height before adjusting further. This initial test will allow you to verify whether the clip's bottom part smoothly hooks onto the rail's lower part. Any deviation of mere millimeters can be the difference between creating an incredibly functional clip and generating unnecessary PLA scraps that serve no practical purpose.
