5ml Vial Holder

5ml Vial Holder

This is a straightforward project for anyone who has access to a 3D printer. I use small 5ml vials from eBay to store tiny surface mount components, which are a great fit due to their clip lids - they securely hold the components in place without spilling them. However, these vials have rounded bottoms and do not stand upright on their own, making it inconvenient to work with them. This is where this little rack comes into play, holding five vials at a time while allowing for easy pickup and placement back onto the vials when needed. This simple device is essentially a block of material with five holes drilled into it, but the bottoms of these holes are rounded, which adds a bit of complexity to its design. While one could easily create something similar by using a piece of wood and drilling holes in it, that wouldn't be quite as exciting as 3D printing this device - and the geek factor is definitely worth considering!
