5DollarFilament Spool Stabilizer

5DollarFilament Spool Stabilizer

While new spools from 5DollarFilament boast greater strength and robustness, it's still beneficial to have two stable bore holes on either side of the spool that correspond with the spool holder on your 3D Printer. This is a small snap-on stabilizer designed to provide your spool with a smooth ride. You can modify the bore size, along with the height and width of the printed walls, using the included SCAD file. I also suggest adding a ring of filament around the forks, as shown in the picture above, if you experience trouble with feeding on your specific 3D printing setup. I've included two bore sizes: 53mm, which matches standard welding wire spool bores, and 31mm, which fits spool holders such as those found on MonoPrice 3D Printers and others. Naturally, you can have any bore size you prefer by editing the SCAD file. There are two versions of 5DollarFilament spools: older spools shipped in February and parts of March 2016 feature slightly different fork heights, classified as 'Old Style,' while newer spools shipped later possess the 'New Style.'
