5C COLLET LATHE WRENCH
thingiverse
I got fed up with constantly replacing the lathe Collet wrenches in our workshop with low-quality ones that are prone to damage. They're all overpriced, making it a waste of resources. This is a lathe collet wrench designed specifically around C5 collets, but it should work on any three-pronged collet within its size range. It utilizes slot head screwdriver bits that often go unused in your universal kit and end up collecting dust. The ideal insert to use is the flared blade style, which I deliberately designed with clearance for those who have them. This design allows for a straight cross-section of about 0.1 inches. Some inserts are tapered all the way to the tip, causing friction that will eventually hinder the closure of the collet as it's screwed into the taper. The inserts can be tapped into place using a brass mallet, and if damaged, they can be driven out from the back with a screwdriver or punch for easy replacement.
