Printing

Any material should be fine--it's not designed to hold food items or be subjected to heat/pressure. I used PETG, but that was to match the filament I used for the tamping stand and portafilter dosing funnel, which are subjected to heat / pressure.

Designed to print without supports, shouldn't need much infill at all--there are a lot of wide open areas that may suffer on surface quality if you use sparse infill, though.

It's big. Like… very-nearly-the-whole-MK3s-build-plate-big, so don't be surprised

Settings (how I printed mine, at least):

Prusa Slate Silver PETG

0.4mm nozzle

.2 layer height

20% infill (resulted in some surface scarring, but it's not visible on mine when in use)

You could probably do this on a .6 nozzle and get nice results

Might also be a good idea to try adaptive infill settings; much lower support % until you get around a surface layer, then increasing it there so it's better supported;

Accessories this was designed to hold

(some external product links, none of which are affiliate/ads)

58mm tamping tool (Saint Anthony Industries New Levy, but any 58mm tamper should fit)

58mm distribution wedge (SAI BT Wedge, but again any 58mm should be fine)

The oblong tamping stand is the ECM 58mm Portafilter Tamping Station by Dennis

The base is designed with enough clearance that this should slot right in, smoothly, and can be easily taken out for tamping and cleaning

I also use this part for weighing/dosing beans, and it works very well with both straight and angled “ergonomic” portafilter handles

The portafilter funnel is part of the Expobar Brewtus IV Coffee Accessories set by That Engineering Guy

This funnel prints easily, looks great, and works very well; The version uploaded here is the first one I printed, and I've been using it every day since I printed it in early January of 2022.

The height of the tamping and wedge stand was designed to match the portafilter basket holder, which I tacked to the left side with a little bit of CA glue.

The only thing I might change (if I made any future iterations) would be to increase the clearance depth of the distribution wedge and tamper, but both have enough room that it's never been an issue.
