To construct a gearbox for a project, I struggled to find a 200:1 reduction online so opted for designing one. Printed on a Creality CR10 with 0.06mm layer height in PLA, the final product surpassed my expectations. The assembly measures just 4mm longer than a standard NEMA 17x38mm stepper motor. However, my calculations were off, resulting in a 4.8:1 reduction per stage (530:1 for four stages). For my application, I needed 110:1 reduction with a motor having 0.9-degree steps, providing 0.008 degrees of precision.
