52mm 500W CNC Spindle Dust Collection Unit
thingiverse
I designed a custom dust collection unit specifically for my CNC router machine, which utilizes a common 52mm 500W "quiet cut" spindle. I created all the models in Fusion360 and designed every part from scratch, taking inspiration from commercial machines that I use daily. This design requires removing the main body to change bits, but you can easily do so with a 4mm hex wrench by loosening just three screws. All components except for the castellated lower boots are printed in ABS at 0.2mm resolution using a 0.4mm nozzle, 1.2mm walls, and 0.8mm top/bottom layers. The lower boots are designed to be printed in TPU or similar flexible materials to prevent interference with work material, while the castellation prevents vacuum suction from lifting the piece. I created two versions of this piece that extend 20mm and 30mm below the dust collector body for short and long versions respectively. The flexible boot pieces were successfully printed without support structure or brim for plate adhesion.
