To cool my Z-axis stepper motor on my Makergear M2, I required a compact solution due to limited space. Instead of creating elaborate ductwork, I discovered fans on Amazon with 5V DC power for USB hub compatibility. My friction-fit mounting setup includes a base, grilled top, and solid top plate to protect the fan from falling debris. The design allows for alternative fan positioning and also benefits the control box's electronics by pulling warm air out. Print with preferred settings, as these parts are non-load bearing. Secure fans using pegs sized for a snug fit but easy assembly/disassembly. I use scrapbook mounting tape for attachment to my Makergear M2 base, which has been reliable, though foam tape could be used instead if desired.
