500G Hai Supercar
grabcad
Hi all...phew, there's been some late nights on this one! Glad to have 'completed' my basic design in time and hope you like it. Please leave feedback, I'd love to know what you think, good and/or bad...and can someone please do me a favour and add some quality renders (Fateh...help!), I need a computer upgrade to run my software effectively. Adherence to Brief: I bypassed the temptation to aim towards 'flame' design and sharp edges (except for a few minimal accents) in preference for a clean classic Berlinetta appearance...the jury's out on my success. However, steering away from fastback design affords excellent rear vision. The overall form is low and aggressive, without being overtly so, flexing a bit of muscle about the wheel arches, it is an understated street fighter. The bold external surfaces flow, pouring over a purposeful core, like a velvet hammer. As the 'Hai' name suggests, the shark is a source of inspiration. I'd like some comments on aerodynamic efficiency of the design, I sought to channel air through the car to aid cooling and downforce (also ran out of time to add some ducting I'd have preferred), the central side feature is a skirt to aid ground effect, whilst slimming the waistline and providing a more lithe feel to the body. Items Missing: Nifty rear wing and mirrors I designed...ran out of time. Also some shut lines and other assorted details. Chassis Fit: In the end, I shrank the 500G chassis by 2%, specifically to fit the corners of the roll bars under the roof line...I would have adjusted the roof line normally, but I'd almost killed my poor old computer working on my enormous assembly file, it was much safer to reduce the chassis size for now. Air boxes front and rear have also been omitted, but would only require minimal modification to fit. Items Borrowed: Tyres, brakes and steering wheel came from GrabCAD and 3D Central, thanks to those who shared them! Anyways, hope everyone had fun doing this...I have, but filled the 'swear jar' simultaneously. Looking forward to seeing more great entries, good luck to all :) Duane PS: STEP came in at 124MB, so I haven't bothered.
