The .50 Browning Machine Gun (.50 BMG, 12.7×99mm NATO and designated as the 50 Browning by the C.I.P.) is a .50 in (12.7 mm) caliber cartridge developed for the M2 Browning heavy machine gun in the late 1910s, entering official service in 1921. Under STANAG 4383, it is a standard service cartridge for NATO forces as well as many non-NATO countries. The cartridge itself has been made in many variants: multiple generations of regular ball, tracer, armor-piercing (AP), incendiary, and saboted sub-caliber rounds. The rounds intended for machine guns are made into a continuous belt using metallic links. The .50 BMG cartridge is also used in anti-materiel rifles. A wide variety of ammunition is available, and the availability of match-grade ammunition has increased the usefulness of .50 caliber rifles by allowing more accurate fire than lower-quality rounds.Printing TipsPrint with random seam positioning (Prusa Slicer > Print Settings > Layers and perimeters > Advanced > Seam position > Random).Model FormatThe model is available in .STL .STEP and Fusion360 (.F3D) format. STL and STEP files can be used in your typical Slicer Software like PrusaSlicerThe F3D format contains the original sketch for easy customization in Fusion360Use as Dummy Round / Snap Cap3D printed models based on CIP cartridge dimensions are not ideal to fit or be used in real guns. Printed with non-elastic filaments like PETG or PLA, the cartridge is going to break if hit by the bolt. To create usable Snap Caps, I made the modified version (-MOD). The -MOD file is a modified version with the following changes:Modifications for better printabilitySlightly smaller dimensions to fit into real gunsPrimer Pocket (Print 50BMG-Primer.stl using flexible Filament like FilaFlexible40 as a primer. If you don't have a reloading press, you might want to scale it down to 96%)Drill Hole (7/64 or 3mm) inside the Primer Pocket. The Drill hole is intended to be fixed on a drill to sand and polish the model, creating a nice looking shiny finish.
