This project involved designing a 3D printable model of a historical artifact tied to a president. The object references a pivotal moment when the president demonstrated one of his many presidential powers. Take on the role of an antiques appraiser and research this artifact. Which president is associated with it, and what presidential power does it represent? The more information you provide, the more valuable the artifact becomes. The object is a gift given to a specific Head of State for a particular Western country. The object is an instrument. This instrument is a rare original instrument from its inventor. During this summit, a treaty was signed regarding security interests in Europe. The inventor of the instrument given to Clinton was from Brussels. Significance & Research (with citations) The Object: A genuine Adolphe Sax saxophone from Dinant Belgium. Bill Clinton received this saxophone from the mayor of Dinant; Dinant is the hometown of Adolphe Sax. Adolphe Sax invented the saxophone. This item was gifted to Clinton in 1994 after he revealed the Partnership for Peace initiative. The Gift represents approval for his plan, as the gift comes from the NATO country of Brussels (usnews.com). Details about the Object: A genuine Adolphe Sax saxophone from Dinant Belgium. This object can be displayed in a museum. Many of Adolphe's inventions, including his Saxophone, were honored recently (forbes.com). This object is extremely valuable. It is a relic from a historic event. The announcement of the Partnership for Peace initiative was a historic event (Miller Center). Items from historical events are valuable. President: President: Bill Clinton President # 42(Miller Center). He contributed to the Partnership for Peace and announced that the United States would maintain about 100,000 troops in Europe (Miller Center). Contribution/The Act & Presidential Role. This relates to the Presidential role of Chief Diplomat. The President is managing the United States' foreign policy. He is acting as the chief diplomat because he is representing the entire United States on Foreign Policy. Impact on America/Significance The president at the 1994 NATO Summit in Brussels, Belgium announced the Partnership for Peace program. This program, led by the United States, aimed to foster better relations between European Countries and Warsaw Pact countries. He also committed 100,000 U.S. soldiers to Europe (Miller Center). I chose Bill Clinton, and the presidential power I chose to exemplify is Chief Diplomat.
