5 mm hex key T-handle
thingiverse
There's already a plethora of hex key handles available, but all the metric ones top out at 4 mm. Here's a simple 5 mm one. A moderately parametric model was used. The handle is relatively straightforward, with minimal fillets added for simplicity's sake. The zip-tie is recessed into the design. The head sticks out slightly, but it doesn't cause any issues. - Head width: approximately 4.87 mm - Thickness: a consistent 1 mm With the zip-tie in place, the hex key becomes extremely secure. Its necessity for use cannot be overstated. A pair of nail clippers was used to trim excess material from the design. The result is a comfortable grip that's easy to hold onto. The hex key slot fits snugly; it could fit even closer with some minor adjustments. The hole through which the key sits is the same size as the slot, but came out slightly smaller than expected. A gentle twist was needed to get the key through. The file will remain unchanged. As for the dimensions of my hex key, it turns out they don't conform to standardization. Two tables were found online that list metric hex keys: - https://www1.mscdirect.com/PDF/FASTENERS/HexKeys.pdf - https://www.picclickimg.com/d/l400/pict/232898738291_/15-10MM-Metric-L-Arm-Allen-Hex-Key-Wrench-Steel.jpg Neither of these tables match my hex key's specifications. It has a short arm length of 29 mm and a long arm length of 73 mm.
