5 Inch LCD Touchscreen Case for Raspberry Pi
thingiverse
I designed this case for my 5-inch touchscreen LCD, which I purchased from Aliexpress, to use with my Raspberry Pi. Ideally, this case is intended for OctoPrint and OctoScreen/OctoDash, but it could work just as well for any other application. In my setup, I tap off of the 24-volt PSU on my Ender 3 and use a LM2596 to step down to 5 volts. The photos of the case and stand are from earlier versions. The stand has been lengthened for added stability, and the USB cutout on the case has been moved to its correct position, along with a hole made to run power wires through. Breakdown: This case fits my screen fairly snugly but I recommend using the bracket as well to prevent it from popping out. There is a round cutout on the side for running power wires through. If you plan on powering your Pi with a USB cable, it will be quite tight unless you use a very thin cable or a 90-degree cable. I have soldered (poorly, lol) onto the solder points on the back of the display for power. The bracket has an indentation in it to mount a LM2596 buck converter. I held it in place with double-sided tape. On the shorter side, I used M3x12 screws and on the longer side, I used M3x20 screws. The back has many vents to ensure airflow. Honestly, my Pi could probably use a fan if it's under heavy load! The back is attached to the case using M3x8 screws. Any suggestions or alterations are welcome! This is my first "real" 3D design I've made myself, so it's a bit rough.
