$5 filament spool and holder for Tiko 3D
cults3d
I finally got my Kickstarter Tiko 3D printer. The spool area on top has limited space for only 165mm spools. However, the printer's speed is slow and I noticed that leaving the included filament overnight often causes it to break. So, I thought Protoparadigm's $5 filament (200gm spools) would be perfect for it. Unfortunately, the spool area on the Tiko is a bit too large for the smaller spools, making it difficult to feed them easily. I decided that a spool on a stand would solve this problem. After seeing my friend's spool, I tried making one of my own. It has two threads on the spool for faster alignment and is designed to fit perfectly on the print bed of the Tiko. Then, I made the base for the spool to spin on smoothly. The spool glides well on the base as it is, but I also designed it to add three 623zz bearings using M3x10 screws if needed. This would make it even smoother and easier to use. CAUTION: These designs were not printed on a Tiko. My current Tiko is unable to achieve reliable prints, so be careful when trying these out.
