$5 filament spool and holder for Tiko 3D
thingiverse
I finally got my Kickstarter Tiko 3D printer home. The spool area on the top is limited to 165mm spools, which isn't very fast and had a tendency to break when leaving the included filament overnight. So I thought Protoparadigm's $5 filament (200gm spools) were perfect for it. But the spool area on the Tiko is a bit large for the smaller spools and wanted make the filament as easy to feed as possible. I figured a spool on a stand would do the trick. After seeing a buddy's spool he used, I tried my hand at making my own spool. It was designed with two starts on the thread for faster alignment. I also wanted it to fit snugly in the print bed on the Tiko. Then made the base for the spool to spin on. The spool glides well enough on the base as is, but I designed it to add three 623zz bearings using M3x10 screws if needed. These modifications should provide a smooth feed. CAUTION: These were not printed on a Tiko. Currently, my Tiko is not able to achieve reliable prints. Print Settings: Printer: Tronxy X3 Rafts: No supports Resolution: 0.25 Infill: 10% Notes: 2 shells/perimeters, 4 layers top and bottom Post-Printing: The spool should feed smoothly enough, but for added glide, add three 623zz bearings using m3x10 screws.
