For most of my projects I design and build the 5.8 Ghz antennas myself, opting for a bare antenna configuration on planes due to their ruggedness. However, when it comes to miniquads, some protection is necessary despite the extra weight it adds. To address this need, I create an antenna cover that provides adequate shielding. The parts are printed in ABS, allowing me to weld them together using acetone and smooth out the surface with acetone vapor for a seamless finish. A secondary component is specifically designed for the Chameleon Ti frame, safeguarding the SMA connector from damage. This additional piece needs to be placed over the antenna cable either before attaching the antenna leaves or before crimping the connector (the same applies to the bottom part of the cover). In the final picture, you can observe that I've installed screws on both sides of the Aluminium component, one set running from the inside to secure the carbon plate and another from the outside to mount the bend protection. To achieve this, it's essential to use screws of the correct size; lengths of 5 and 8mm work well for me, as I simply cut them to the required length.
