A 5 1/4 inch floppy disk is a storage medium used in early computing systems, boasting a capacity of 180 kilobytes. Its form factor is slightly larger than that of the more commonly known 3 1/2 inch floppies, but still relatively compact and portable. These disks were widely used during the 1980s and 1990s before being largely phased out with the advent of CD-ROMs and USB drives.
