5 1/4" Drive Bay Storage Compartment
thingiverse
I designed this with 3D printers in mind. I made a storage bin that fits into the 5 1/4" bay perfectly. This allows you to store 5 SD cards, and 5 Micro SD cards in the bin easily. There's also room for CD/DVD media, such as system recovery discs, or you could even put in a USB hard drive - I used my Western Digital Passport with the cable. I created another one that's blank without the SD card slot, for those who don't need or want SD storage space. This design was specifically made for use with ABS material, but PLA should also work just fine! Hardware needed to complete this project includes: 12x 2mm x 2mm magnets (you can find these on eBay or order from Omomagnets.com) These strong magnets are used to keep the drawer shut and fit into the 6 holes in the back of the drawer and 6 holes in the receiver. For those who worry about magnets being near their computer, take a hard drive apart - the magnets inside are incredibly powerful and only inches away from your data platters. You'll never have data problems like that again! 2x 2mm by about 6mm dowel pins to keep the tray from coming out fully are also required. You may also need 2-8 standard computer drive screws to secure the drive in place - my case, the C70 by Corsair, has spring-loaded pegs to keep the drive secure.
