4X5 Ground Glass Holder for Large Format Camera
thingiverse
To showcase pinhole camera imaging at a 2014 Seattle Mini Maker Faire, I designed the PINH5AD. This large format pinhole camera works with a 4X5 sheet film holder, replaced by my custom frame for visualizing the inverted and rotated image through the pinhole. A hood or drape is needed to block ambient light due to the faint image produced by small apertures. The design fits any camera using a standard 4X5 film holder, with a glass plate precisely positioned 3mm from the holder's face. This replicates the position of film in lensed cameras, crucial for correct focal distance. Assembling requires 8-3mm x 8 screws and appropriate taps for threads. Print with a layer height that factors evenly into 1mm for accuracy. Let parts cool on the printer bed before removing to prevent warping.
