4x5" Film Box (3-part)

When shipping large format film for processing, you typically require a light-tight container. One efficient method to obtain this type of enclosure is to repurpose one of the boxes in which the film arrives. For those relatively new to large format photography, though, spare boxes may not be readily available. Moreover, it's extremely challenging to find these boxes sold individually from the film. To address this issue, I designed an alternative box that can serve as a backup option when spare film boxes cannot be located for shipping purposes. This custom-made box has dimensions comparable to those of a standard cardboard 3-part 4x5" large format film box, with slightly more flexibility in the pieces to prevent them from getting stuck. When inserting film into this box, it's advisable to use an inner plastic bag as a precautionary measure. It's also recommended to apply tape around the edges of the pieces to enhance friction and ensure a secure fit. Finally, seal the box closed using tape to prevent accidental opening during handling.
