4x4x4 3D Tic Tac Toe / Noughts and Crosses
thingiverse
This is a 4x4x4 3D tic tac toe game I designed specifically for a homeschool co-op class. To make it educational, they used a 4-sided dice to roll (x,y,z) coordinates and learn Cartesian coordinates while turning the activity into a fun game. The base was set at z=1 instead of z=0 for simplicity's sake. It's made to be portable and assembled easily using a standard pencil as the spine. Pegs on top and bottom hold a rubber band that keeps all pieces together, preventing them from drooping. The pieces rest on line intersections, not in square spaces between them. They have slots that fit over intersections, holding each piece securely in place. Different board levels can be swiveled out of the way by pivoting on the pencil to access boards underneath. I created a colorful base by pausing at certain layer heights and swapping filament colors. The pieces can be made with different colored filaments for each player or "X" and "O" markers can be glued on top to differentiate them.
