4x4 Keypad Cover (snap tight cover) for RobotDyn pad
thingiverse
Hey kids - I found these 4x4 RobotDyn keypads (resistor ladder type) with three pins and just had to get them because they were so cool, needing one analog input (not counting vcc and ground) to function properly. They come well packaged but since they're snap-on buttons there's a lot of play in them, making them look really sloppy without a cover - so I made one for you! A few things: 1) Check out this keypad ($3.50ish USA): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Button-Keypad-module-4x4-Analog-pin-connection/32635207928.html 2) Be warned: there's going to be a ton of parenthetical content in this summary. 3) To apply the cover, first remove all the buttons from this 4x4 (yes, they pull straight out - I think). Sometimes you'll accidentally pull off the clear cap (where you can insert your printed artwork or button number/letter), so be careful. The first time I snapped this thing on, I almost cried - not just because of the cover, but also because I cut myself badly. 4) Carefully snap the thing over it; it only goes one way! The gap is at the top where it covers the connector and avoids the resistors. This part is really hard to get on (I guess that's what happens when you're a maker). 5) Warning: this face grabber is on there for good, so make sure you get all your stuff together and put the labels into your buttons before snapping the cover on - you'll have to pry it off later if you don't. 6) This cover is meant to be silicone'd down (see the small ridge around the entire thing where you would cut a hole in the console or whatnot, then glue around the hole and drop this thing in). Mine are so tightly snapped that I won't even bother screwing the circuit board down when I assemble it. 7) No more stupidly numbered steps! There you go! P.S. Included in the zip is the Sketchup file (it's got some weird issues with coplanar geometry - aka little triangles from hell).
