4th Gen 4runner Auxbeam Sunglasses compartment
thingiverse
This design allows you to flush mount an Auxbeam switch panel inside the sunglasses holder of a 4th gen 4runner and maintain the stock movement of the sunglasses compartment so the switches are hidden. I ran the controller wire through the firewall, up the a-pillar, and above the headliner where it meets the windshield. Took me about 10 minutes once I got through the firewall. Taking out the A-pillar trim:pop out the two covers on the a-pillar handle with a flathead screwdriver or thin pry tool and remove the two bolts holding the handle on. Then peel back the door seal where it contacts the a pillar trim, and lift the a pillar trim towards the center of the car (up and back) to take it out. Follow the factory wiring up the a-pillar. Taking out the sunglasses holder:The part of the dome light trim closest tot he windshield (where it meets the headliner) is held in to the roof with two metal clips that will come out if pulled straight down, and once released, the whole unit will be able to slide forwards toward the windshield to come down from the roof. Unplug the dome light plug and it will be free. You can run the controller wire through the headliner to that big hole in the roof. The only modifications you need to make to the sunglasses holder is drilling a hole in the black plastic cup in the back for the wire to go through (i think its a little under a half inch) and cutting the front lip of the sunglasses compartment to be flat and flush with the top of the nosepiece holder. Once i did this, i hit it with a torch to hide any scratch marks and imperfections. This step really gives it an OE style texture. I would suggest printing this part in black petg or pla. I have white here to show you the product.
