4mm Scale Hornby J15 handrail drilling jig
thingiverse
This jig is designed to simplify the process of re-drilling holes for handrails on a Hornby J15 model. The Hornby model features horizontally-mounted handrail knobs, whereas prototypes had knobs positioned perpendicularly to the boiler. By removing these knobs from the model, you can then file off the peculiar extra moldings that hold them in place on the boiler. This jig is easily attached to the locomotive's footplate and comes equipped with a hole where a length of brass tube can be inserted to guide a drill bit into the boiler at the correct angle. Two copies of this part need to be printed, then joined together using M4 bolts. The jig can be slid along the footplate for precise horizontal positioning.
