A robotic arm or a mechanical arm is a programmable robot. It is designed to perform functions that are similar to a human arm. The arm can act individually and as a part of some more complex Robot. The links of these arms are connected by joints. These links form a kinematic chain and its terminus is named end effector. An end effector is analogous to human hand.Here, I designed a 4DOF Robotic arm. A 4DOF arm is used to perform simple functions like light weight lifting tasks to assist in industry and factories. It has 4 joints and can rotate in x, y and z directions. The joints move the links in such a way that it gets a posture of a wrist.I designed this model in solidworks using Base Extrude, Lofted Base/Boss, Revolved Base/Boss and mating features.
