47t herringbone gear for Greg's Wade / Hack-a-Day logo skull mashup
thingiverse
This unique design is inspired by triffid-hunter's herringbone gears and the Hack a Day badge, both available on Thingiverse. The creator of this model loves herringbone gears and skulls, resulting in a one-of-a-kind mashup. Despite the current satisfaction with the appearance, there might be further edits to improve the skull faces, using a finer nozzle and layer height for reprinting (original was printed with .5 tip at .36 layer, 1 perimeter, and 70% infill). The .stl file used in the creation is available for download, but it's essential to note that the skull faces may print messy. The model includes a beautiful herringbone gear; however, users need to print a small complementary gear using triffid-hunter's .scad script. It's also crucial to test this design carefully before use, as the 47 teeth pitch diameter might be at the size limit for a standard Greg's Wade extruder on a "flat-top" x-carriage. A shim (0.5mm - 1mm thick) may be required under the extruder body for clearance.
