47mm Omni Wheel
thingiverse
This is a 47mm omniwheel I designed for my current project. It's engineered to work seamlessly with the servo horn I created, which can be found at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1525078. The mating diameter of the servo horn is 20mm. One complete omni wheel includes: 1x Omniwheel v2 top.stl 1x Omniwheel v2 bottom.stl 8x Omniwheel v2 roller.stl Print Settings: Printer: Maker Select V2 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20 Notes: Processed by Simplify 3D. Main Body: I printed the main body in PLA at 190C on a heated bed set to 60C. To achieve a cleaner surface finish, I utilized the dense support layer setting in Simplify 3D, which added four layers of 70% support density. This process yielded fairly decent results for getting a smoother face on where the servo horn meets the omniwheel v2 top.stl. Rollers: I printed the rollers in PETG at 245C on an 80C heated bed and also attempted to print them in PLA at 190C on a 60C bed. After similar post-processing techniques, I discovered that the PETG rolls took sanding better than the PLA ones. To prepare the rollers for use, I drilled partially into them with a 1/16" bit, then ran them over sandpaper to smooth out any imperfections. Once sanded, I finished drilling out the rollers using a 1/16" bit. For the axle of the rollers, I utilize a 1.5mm x 15.8mm pin, which can be purchased at http://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Stainless-15-8mm-Fasten-Elements/dp/B008IDOK1G?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage. The M2 nuts are friction-fit into the main body. To install them, I rely on my Panavise, which can be found at http://www.amazon.com/Silver-Tone-Metal-Screw-Fastener/dp/B00BG8TFR4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage. For securing the top and bottom as well as the servo horn, I employ M2 x 10mm cap screws, available at http://www.amazon.com/Steel-Alloy-Knurled-Screw-M2x10/dp/B00O9Y3ATG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462464020&sr=8-1&keywords=m2+10mm.
