The lid boasts a distinctive flattened conic shape, culminating in a prominent knob. It was also equipped with a sturdy handle that provides a secure grip. This particular type of lid, featuring a knob and a handle, is characteristic of the Orăştiei region, and particularly prevalent in Sarmizegetusa Regia. Its purpose was to seal certain containers. Some examples bear tiny inscriptions on the knob (graffiti). Findspot: Grădiştea de Munte – Feţele Albe, a village within the commune of Orăştioara, Hunedoara County. Dimensions: The lid stands at 4.5 cm in height; its maximum diameter measures 14.5 cm. Material: Crafted from clay, the lid's rough brick-red paste is infused with sand. Technique: Wheel-thrown and fired using oxidation, the process yielded a durable finish. Historical Date: Dating back to the 1st century AD. Time period: Late Iron Age (Dacian). Digitization Method: A team from Technical University of Cluj-Napaca employed 3D laser scanning to create a digital model.
