45T, 42T and 38T HDT-5M Pulley for Electric Skateboard
thingiverse
I spent the weekend cruising a 7K lap around my local lake and was thrilled to see that the 45T pulley performed flawlessly. I also put the 38T through its paces, and it too worked like a charm. Stay tuned for an update on how these components hold up over the long haul. These custom pulleys are designed specifically for 97mm wheels or larger, using the exact model shown in the picture sourced from eBay - check out the link below. I'm not sure if they're identical to other brands with similar hubs like Abec/Evolve or Flywheel, but that's a topic for another day. I opted for a 45 tooth pulley because it divides neatly into 360, making it easier to get the spacing just right. Plus, on larger wheels I don't want to sacrifice any torque - so these custom pulleys should give me similar speed, torque and range as my trusty 80mm wheels, with added comfort. EDIT: I've since added 38T and 42T pulleys to the mix, mainly because I didn't have a belt large enough for the 45T yet. On a 5 km test ride, everything ran smoothly, but as expected, torque was down and braking wasn't quite as effective - acceleration, however, was silky smooth. To print these custom pulleys, simply scale the Z axis to your desired width or narrowness, then flip it 180 degrees on the Z. Easy peasy! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK: I'm not an engineer, so don't come crying to me if this thing blows up in your face - be careful out there and wear a helmet. The bolts are 65mm with 4M threads, while the nuts have 4M threads and a width of 7mm.
