450 Canopy
thingiverse
This is a precision-fitted canopy / electronics box specifically designed for F450 or SK450 quadcopter models, boasting pre-cut areas perfectly suited for integrating a pixhawk or APM USB, LED, and switch extensions seamlessly. Printed with ease using a dual extruder at .15mm layer height with 25% infill density supported by a raft. Alternatively, printing without a raft yields slightly sagging corners; however, no major structural issues arise from this approach. When installed on your quad, ensure you utilize a slightly longer cap screw that draws from the arm's existing threaded holes – it simply snaps into place without additional hardware. The switch securely plugs in without any fuss, while LED placement merely requires attachment via screws. If using ABS for your USB connection, slight modification through hole enlargement or shifting may be required to prevent obstruction or facilitate smooth operation. To bring this intricate design to life, the printer was initially set up with black ABS material and used to create the main body as well as ornate accents such as the skull and crossbones rendered in crisp white ABS. Utilizing Makerbot software allows users to easily manage print jobs; completing a standard run requires approximately 7 hours of uninterrupted operation when dual extrusion is utilized, with significantly shorter processing time achievable if employing a single extruder at roughly 4 hours.
