45 ACP Catridge with FMJ bullet
thingiverse
I recently printed several Ammo boxes listed on thingiverse.com, but most of them lacked something special. I wanted to create the perfect ammo box for myself, so I needed a precise model of a 45 ACP cartridge to serve as its foundation. To achieve this goal, I carefully designed an accurate reproduction of a 45 ACP FMJ bullet and cartridge, ensuring that it accurately head-spaces for a standard 45 ACP chamber. While my design is a highly detailed and realistic representation of the actual cartridge, including precise crimping and headspace, I strongly advise against using this model to fire a real pistol. The plastic material may easily break apart, causing the round to become lodged in the chamber. I tested my design by printing it with 300 Micron layer height using black ABS, which was readily available. Now that I've created an accurate and precise model of a 45 ACP cartridge, I'll proceed to build the ammo box itself. I'd appreciate your feedback on this design – once I'm satisfied with its quality, I'll post pictures of my finished project.
