This project involves converting a basic remote wall socket switch (433MHz) into an advanced device with wireless control capabilities using a Raspberry Pi. The latest installation was done using the Brennenstuhl RCS 1000N kit. The first kit used was sold under different names, including Unitec ITA10464 and Brennenstuhl 4001. It has been successfully mounted in a ceiling-mounted lamp, with a cable running to the switch. However, this guide may not comply with safety regulations in all countries, so caution is advised when working with grid voltages. The goal of this project was to convert a simple ceiling fan into a remotely switched device with on/off functionality. To achieve this, the wall socket case needs to be opened, which can be done easily by cutting off the wires from the plug pins or desoldering the PCB from the wires. It's recommended to replace the steel wires with pure copper ones for better conductivity. Smoothen the edges and remove any broken spikes on the PCB. The outline of the case should be almost rectangular (47x47mm) to fit snugly. A screw terminal block is necessary, measuring 45mm wide, 16mm deep, and 13mm high. It can accommodate wires up to 0.75-1.0 mm2 in size. A suitable terminal block may require some cutting to fit the case's dimensions. Only three wires need to be fed through (without neutral/ground). To secure the screw terminal block, double-sided duct tape (such as Tesa No 55732) can be used, which is not strictly necessary but does no harm. The PCB with new wires should then be seated in the case, and the wires adjusted and screwed on tightly. The shell cover parts can be assembled using M3 screws, which have been inserted into the plastic by heating them up and pushing them in. This method provides a secure hold. Alternatively, other screws suitable for plastic can be used. The pass-through holes are designed for 3mm smooth shafts, with a core bore diameter of 2.4mm where the thread cuts in. The installation is complete.
