42mm cnc spindle cover and switch top.
thingiverse
A protective cover for the standard 42mm spindles found on many affordable CNC machines such as the 1610 series, safeguards the terminals while providing an outlet with slots to secure a cable tie and prevent strain on cables. The design includes internal channels that require support during printing, but I found the press-fit mechanism worked flawlessly using a highly rigid PLA material for my toolhead components, allowing some flexibility in fitting. It's assumed that any CNC owner with basic skills will be able to achieve a snug fit. It is crucial to ensure adequate clearance from the Z lift motor; although I kept the back of the design flat, I still had only about 2mm of clearance. Additionally, avoid blocking the airholes as they play a significant role in airflow. The top cap is detachable and comes with an uncustomized blank version that can be drilled or modified according to user preference. Two versions are provided: one featuring a standard 12mm rocker switch and LED hole. I used an 8mm LED light from my collection, which I had been holding onto for years without using it. The design is open-source; users are free to customize and provide feedback.
