I designed a custom fan mount/adaptor that replaces the standard 50x15 fan with a smaller, quieter 40x20 fan. The new fan reduces noise levels and prevents overheating issues caused by powerful 50mm fans. These high-powered fans can lower hotend/nozzle temperatures and lead to temperature fluctuations. The design fits seamlessly into place of the original 50mm fan without requiring any modifications to the printer's structure. This includes an adjustable clamp at the top and a spacer on the bottom bolts, ensuring compatibility with most MK8 style printers equipped with a 26mm length heat break tube. Ducts snap onto the mount for easy installation, while the upper clamp securely holds the fan in place. The unit is designed to be lightly adjustable for optimal fitment. The ducts are strategically positioned to cover just the tip of the nozzle without obstructing it like ring-style ducts often do, making maintenance a breeze. This design should work on most i3 style printers with a 50mm fan mounted at the front. The snap-on ducts can be easily reconfigured for individual printer needs.
