40x20 fan mount and ducts with wire management
thingiverse
A custom designed fan mount and adapter has been created to utilize a 40x20 fan as a replacement for the standard 50x15 fan. This smaller fan is quieter and more efficient, producing less heat and noise while maintaining optimal print quality. Some 50mm fans can be too powerful, causing the hotend or nozzle temperatures to drop and fluctuate excessively, leading to unnecessary work for the heater. The mount is designed to fit seamlessly into place of the standard 50mm fan, featuring a clamp at the top and a spacer on the bottom bolts that allow it to be installed without any modifications to the printer structure. This design accommodates a 26mm length heat break tube on an MK8 style hotend. The ducts snap onto the mount, ensuring easy installation and removal as needed. The upper clamp securely holds the fan in place, while the spacer allows for the use of stock bolts. The entire unit is also designed to be lightly adjustable, allowing for a precise fit. To simplify hotend maintenance, the ducts are positioned to cover only the tip of the nozzle, preventing any blockages or obstructions that can occur with traditional "ring" style ducts. This design should work on most i3 style printers with a 50mm fan mounted on the front. The unique snap-on design of the ducts allows for easy reconfiguration and customization to fit individual printer needs.
