40oz/32oz Hydroflask Bike Bottle Holder - Shorter Remix!
thingiverse
I really loved Matthew LeGate's original design because it's so versatile - it can handle various sizes of water bottles. I scaled it up by 3% to accommodate my typical Powerade Zero bottles, which are a standard 89 mm in diameter. At the same time, I managed to shorten it significantly. To do this, I divided the model into thirds, removed the middle section, and then merged them back together again. Fusion was causing some issues for me, and mesh files can be quite frustrating to work with, so I had to employ a few tricks to reassemble the file. What you need to keep in mind is that when slicing the model, it's worth checking that everything cuts cleanly around 61.5 mm from the bottom (206 layers at 0.3 layer height). It worked for me in Cura, but it's always a good idea to double-check for everyone else. Time will tell if Matthew LeGate designed his bottle holder with its current height for a specific reason, but I gave it a test run last night and was thrilled with the results - it held together perfectly, even with this small bottle, and only had a minimal rattle. Happy printing!
