Yet another test cube takes it up a notch by including a test fit of two objects. With tolerances in 3D printing being much looser than in machining, we can simplify the fit of parts into three distinct categories: clearance fit, transition fit, and interference fit. Printers and filaments vary in tolerances, so if you need a wider or tighter fit to achieve your desired result, note the clearance required and adjust your prints accordingly. Here are the following fits described: Clearance Fit: Items fit together seamlessly but are loose and easily disassembled without any additional force. Transition Fit: Items fit together with some effort required but stay together on their own unless removed with additional force or tools. Interference Fit: Items fit together with precision, requiring a mallet, press, or other forceful means to separate them.
