I crafted an adapter that snugly fits over 40mm PVC and securely attaches to flexible pool hoses - the same type commonly used by pool cleaners. The design was specifically tailored for diverting plumbing wash water directly into a grey water storage tank. While the taper doesn't quite seal as tightly in the pool hose as initially anticipated, it functions flawlessly with a judicious application of marine silicone sealant.
