Human: 40MM NATO (RD40x1/7) to MSA Phalanx Filter Adapter ============================================ This prototype design creates a seamless transition between the 40MM NATO (RD40x1/7") gas mask thread and the MSA Phalanx filter adapter. This innovative adapter unlocks compatibility between any RD40x1/7 threaded full face CBRN masks and the entire line of MSA Phalanx threaded chemical, combination, and particle filter cartridges. As a result, users can effectively mitigate PPE shortages by expanding cross-compatibility with respirators from various manufacturers. Use Proper Gaskets The gasket placement is critical; it's unclear if it belongs on the filter or mask side. To ensure a proper seal, a gasket has been provided at the base of the threads. 2.) Perform Proper Negative Pressure Test Follow established protocols by your institution or workplace for further guidance. Adjust straps until taught against face, ensuring no obstructions around the periphery of the seal. Exhale deeply and cover all inhalation ports. Inhale deeply; the mask should suck tightly against your face without air leakages. Re-test if adjustments are required at gasket/o-ring interfaces. 3.) Use At Own Risk – Temporarily Solution Only Until Supply Chain Normalizes This adapter is a temporary solution due to its limitations. 3D printing materials are not resistant to many solvents, water-soluble, and degrade when exposed to chemicals, heat, or UV/sunlight. It's essential to use a properly calibrated 3D printer and consider applying a thin layer of polyurethane clear coat on all exterior surfaces for added durability. Dev.
