40mm J-Head v6 snap on fan mount
thingiverse
So after searching for a while for a 40mm fan mount for my hotend, I finally found one, a design that sits in the fins of the heat sink. After making a few adjustments, I've designed my own. This fan mount is specifically designed to fit around a Chinese clone of the V6, the thin ones with a 22mm diameter heat sink. If someone needs one for the real deal (25mm heat sink), it won't be hard for me to edit it. The screw holes on this design may or may not work; they're not fan size holes as I made them 3mm diameter. Instead, I used zip ties to hold my fan in place. If someone needs one that can use screws let me know. As you can see from the pictures, I'm using half of a fan stack from a 1u rack mount server. The overkill comes from having two extruders melt due to poor cooling. Since I've used such a huge fan and it works, any smaller fan should work just fine as well. This design was created in SolidWorks. If you need the file converted to something for your CAD program, let me know. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: P3Steel Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20 Notes: Flip the model 90 degrees so it sits with the flat part down. If you print without supports, you might get some lines hanging down into the center hole. They're few and far between enough that it shouldn't matter, but it might be worse with PLA (I printed this in ABS).
