40mm fan - ultrasonic Sensor mount
thingiverse
I built this prototype as a testing ground for an ultrasonic bed leveling system's key components. The component designed to interface with an ultrasonic range finder mounts onto a stepstruder/MakerGear MkX direct drive extruder's fan unit. This was my first ever 3D model shared on Thingiverse, and upon reviewing it, I realize there are critical areas in need of improvement – namely the positioning of leads stemming from pin headers. I'll have to reassess this design. 9/17/14 update: When I tried printing my Prusa i3 with its existing fan grill orientation, difficulties arose, leading me to redesign it altogether. My latest model attaches an H-rail alongside the fan grill, while modifying the ultrasonic mount's functionality involves a slot to effortlessly slide onto this rail. Soon enough, these upgraded features will be live on Thingiverse. Later 9/17/14 update: A revised extruder mod rail that makes life simpler for users with various customization needs was just published on my account (thingiverse.com/thing:466195). The moment is coming when I'll reformat this module to perfectly integrate with the existing ultrasonic system.
