I created a LED light assembly to attach directly to my fan, specifically designed for a 40mm fan. To assemble this project, you will need longer screws, measuring 3 x 20mm in length. The LED light can be easily integrated into the hotend fan wires due to its minimal power requirements. It's crucial to verify the actual current drawn by your hotend fan before tapping into it, as excessive voltage may lead to a dramatic shortening of the LED lifespan and potentially cause them to overheat, even to the point of melting or damaging your printer. The original design featured a mounting surface that was suitable for cut-to-length LED strips. However, I've linked an alternative option featuring fatter LEDs that are brighter than those originally used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071RL4JB7/ref=sspa_dk_detail_6?pd_rd_i=B0716B81LK&th=1 The LED assembly measures 40mm x 20mm or 82mm x 20mm. You can either purchase a 12V LED that fits these dimensions or combine two smaller LEDs, solder them together, and then wire them to your fan. Initially, the design included a cone-shaped feature in the center, but I found it made the fan too loud for practical use. To improve airflow and aesthetics, I added a second version with a velocity stack that enhances performance and gives it a sleeker look. The result is so impressive that even bald eagles might be inspired to take flight and soar into your face!
