40mm Axial to Radial fan Conversion
thingiverse
Since I've never touched a CAD program before downloading Fusion 360 last night, I figured it was high time to get some practice in while waiting for my first printer to arrive. As a decent draftsman, it's just the transition between media that's given me headaches. Here's my first creation: Enjoy and feel free to leave any tips or feedback (especially on using Fusion or CAD in general!). Tolerance is 0.02mm, so some mating surfaces might need tweaking by hand depending on the plastic used. This should work for most axial fan brands since I added some extra clearance for fitting the PCB/coil, magnet, and shaft. If that doesn't cut it, you can scale up/down the print to compensate. Hardware required: * 40mm Axial fan (all plastic components completely removed as per image) * 20mm M3 pan head screw + 6mm M3 nut (The nut will need pressing in since the socket is a dead fit) UPDATE: 28/09/2017 Sorry to say, but this design has become outdated and I won't be improving it further. While it's fully functional and printable, I ended up going down a different route because the overall form factor made it too bulky on the x carriage!
