4020 blower to 40mm (4010) fan adaptor
thingiverse
I have a large collection of 4020 blowers and discovered they're significantly quieter than my 4010 fans. Additionally, they tend to flow better when there's a restriction because blower motors maintain pressure much better than fan motors. I couldn't find any suitable adapters on Thingiverse, so I designed one myself. The part where the blower attaches is from another design that I'm planning to upload in the future. The blower fits neatly into place with the mounting tab sitting within a recess and the guides on the opposite side fitting snugly inside the blower. These guides prevent the blower from wobbling since it's secured by only one screw, and they also reduce air leakage from the high-pressure side back to the low-pressure side of the squirrel cage. If you experience noise during assembly, double-check that you're not experiencing over-extrusion on the guides going into the blower. Sand them down if necessary to make them smooth and provide clearance. Also, ensure that the blower is pressed onto the adapter completely. I've uploaded two versions: one with a recess for a 3mm socket head cap screw, and another with a recess for a 3mm nut (if you want the screw coming through from the other side). Either version will allow you to use a 20mm screw. The picture shows an adapter without a recess, so I had to use a 25mm screw, which is why it's sticking out on the other side. Edit: Initially, I mounted the fan with a horizontal axis, but then rotated it so it had a nearly vertical axis with the intake facing upwards, and this resulted in even further noise reduction. I've uploaded additional pictures showing it in both orientations on an Ender 3 printer.
