Like other 40mm fans, this adapter stands alone and doesn't need a backplate - it can be mounted with just one screw. Only 5% infill was used in the grid pattern. Air flow is so good that I had to lower the fan speed to 50%. Update (October 10, 2018) Version 2 boasts improved holder clips.
