40 mm hotend fan duct and bracket
thingiverse
To address my hotend's overheating issue, I finally designed a 40 mm fan duct and bracket for my Prusa. The bracket, which only has 3 mm screw holes on one edge due to my x-carriage's lack of mounting brackets, must be glued in place. My prints were severely impacted by the heat creeping up the hotend and causing filament feed problems. I'll post pictures later to illustrate this. Future improvements include a nozzle extension for better airflow direction and an adapter for a 60 mm fan (or whatever I have on hand). This fan duct is now available on Thingiverse at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:192742, and I categorize it as a 3D printer part since the hotend fan is crucial for preventing heat creep and filament clogging. Due to issues with print quality, I used masking tape as a temporary fix. However, the screws I used were too long (25 mm), causing interference with assembly onto the x-carriage. As a result, the bolt head is on the side of the bracket in the last two pictures.
