40-mm E3D Fan

40-mm E3D Fan

thingiverse

This is a remix of a fan part I got off Thingiverse months ago, but now I'm unable to find it. There's another remix out there that has a similar note as this one though. According to the file I have saved, it was called 40-mm E3D Fan. The fan in question features a built-in valve which allows for a small 1/8th turn adjustment of fan flow. Unfortunately, my MP Select Mini refuses to listen to the fan, so I created this modification to keep the vent closed during the first layer of some prints and then open it up afterwards. The print is still a work in progress here are some notes and issues: I'm sure it's not the model itself, but my ABS version of this part is fragile at the neck between the E3D clasps and the main body. I printed with supports everywhere on this one, granted this will need some cleaning up with a stencil knife or similar tool. You'll want to apply a tiny bit of force as you clean it up to get the valve to turn but it should all go smoothly, I've printed it twice already. Print Settings: Printer: Monoprice MP Select Mini Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.15 Infill: 100 Notes: You may not need 100% infill but anytime I print parts for the hotend, I go 100% and would suggest it as well. Support is suggested everywhere on the model but know that this will need a small amount of fine clean up. Post-Printing: Carefully apply pressure to the inside valve to get it to snap free from the support, then clean with stencil knife or similar tool. How I Designed This: Blender and some time was all I needed.
